What You Can Do with i-mode mail

Send and receive up to 5,000 full-size characters using FOMA handsets and up to 2,000 full-size characters1 using mova handsets.

1 At default settings, you can receive up to 250 full-size characters per mail message. You can receive mail that exceeds 250 full-size characters in segments if you change the character count to be received. You can freely set your mobile phone to receive individual mail messages in up to eight segments (2,000 full-size characters). See Mobile Phone User's Guide [i-mode] mova version for details.

Attach photo and video clip files as well as document files such as Word and Excel to your mail.

When you use handsets compatible with large-volume mail (in Japanese only), you can send and receive up to a maximum of 10 mail attachments of various file types such as Word and Excel along with the main text of your mail, for a total of up to 2 MB per message.
When receiving i-mode mail with attached files, files of up to 100 KB are received automatically, and files exceeding 100 KB are manually selected and acquired from an i-mode mail server.

• Sending and receiving large files as attachments to mail may take time.
• You will incur high packet communications charges when large volumes of data are sent or received as mail attachments or via other means, so use of a packet flat-rate service such as Pake-hodai double is recommended.
• Sent and received mail will be deleted automatically from the oldest messages when the Inbox and Outbox of your mobile phone become full. (Please note that multiple mail messages may be deleted simultaneously if you send or receive large-volume mail.)

Handsets compatible with large-volume mail (in Japanese only)

With a FOMA handset, you can send the same mail message to up to 50 different addresses simultaneously.
Communications charges for simultaneously sending a message to more than one address are the same as if you send a message to one address. However, additional communications charges apply for the added address data.

The maximum for some handsets is 5.

You can create and send mail which includes a combination of text and pictograms (illustrations) that come pre-installed on the handset.

If you send i-mode mail to a mail service with a pictogram conversion function, the pictograms are converted automatically to similar pictograms used by the other service. No application or special settings are required for this function.

• Pictograms may not display properly or the images may be different from shown depending on the functions of the particular mobile phone or PHS receiving pictogram-embedded mail, or on the model or type of browser in use.
• When a handset that is receiving pictogram-embedded mail does not have the particular pictogram being sent, that pictogram is automatically converted to text or to the equal (=) sign.
• Pictograms that are included in the subject line of mail sent to Yahoo! Mail addresses are converted to a dot (·) or other character.

Moving pictograms (Deco-mail Pictograms) enables you to improve the expressiveness of mail on handsets compatible with Deco-mail.

The whole mail moves just like an animation.
You can send Deco-mail with links to various functions such as Deco-mail in which the expression of the mail changes depending on the buttons pressed by the recipient and Deco-mail in which the animation of the mail changes depending on the time or date.

Decome-Anime (in Japanese only)

The i-mode mail plus site features Timer Mail and Friend Mail 12. Timer Mail allows you to specify the date and time you would like your mail to be delivered and Friend Mail 12 enables you to send the same message to up to 12 different people at the same time. You can also download charming Deco-mail pictures which you can use free of i-mode information charges.

i-mode mail now enables you to receive mail with digital signatures.

The digital signature itself is deleted at the i-mode center and a message stating that the digital signature is deleted is inserted into the body of the mail you receive.
