If you lose your DOCOMO mobile phone overseas
If your DOCOMO mobile phone or DOCOMO UIM Card(FOMA Card) is lost or stolen, please contact DOCOMO immediately and suspend the service.
It may be possible for your DOCOMO UIM Card(FOMA Card) to be inserted and used in a non-DOCOMO handset, and cases have been reported of users being billed large amounts as a result of unauthorized use by third parties overseas. Please note that users are responsible for any voice/data communications charges incurred after loss or theft.
Please be sure to contact DOCOMO immediately from your travel destination even if the handset
that is lost or stolen cannot be used overseas. In case of loss or theft, use of the applicable roaming mobile phone may be restricted.
Even if the handset is a model that cannot be used overseas, if the DOCOMO UIM Card(FOMA Card) (removable) inside the handset is inserted in a local overseas mobile phone, there is a possibility that it can be used.
If the handset to be suspended is in use during the suspension procedure, service will be suspended after the current communications have ended.

- Unauthorized use can be prevented by setting a PIN1 code (PIN access for your DOCOMO UIM Card(FOMA Card)). If the PIN1 code is set, the handset cannot be used unless the PIN (four to eight digits) is entered when the power is turned on.
- Procedures for setting the PIN1 code differ depending on the handset model. Please check the user's manual for the FOMA handset you use in Japan.

Overseas communications charges
Main difference from communications charges in Japan
|
Incoming call charges will apply when you receive calls while overseas (including when calls are received by the Voice Memo function). |
|
There are cases where voice/data communications charges will be incurred even for toll-free calls, credit card calls, prepaid card calls, etc. However, charges will not apply for calls to local police, ambulance, and other emergency services. |
|
A minimum charge will be incurred for each access. Please note that the billing system of packet communications is different from that in Japan. For details on packet communications charges, please see Voice/data communications charges and service areas. |
|
Packet communications may occur automatically even when overseas due to use of functions such as the automatic update function of Phone Data Backup Service, the first i-channel information update, and automatic i-αppli activation. Please be aware that packet communications charges will apply and may become high. |
|
The communications allowances in FOMA Data Communications Billing Plans cannot be applied to WORLD WING voice/data communications charges. Various discounts such as Pake-hodai double and Flat-rate Data Plans will also not apply to WORLD WING voice/data communications charges. Communications allowances cannot be applied to charges for roaming mobile phone rentals. |
|
Approx. ¥1,600 will be incurred as data communications charges when you send or receive mail with an attachment of approx. 1 MB using a PC. You can use the PC software docomo Connection Manager (in Japanese only) to determine the number of bytes of data sent and received via packet communications and obtain an estimate of applicable charges. |
Things to check before using i-mode mail overseas
When using i-mode mail (hereinafter referred to as "mail") overseas, the billing system for i-mode packet communications charges differ from that in Japan, and a minimum packet communications charge will be incurred for each access.
i-mode communications will be disconnected each time you send or receive mail.
A minimum packet communications charge will be incurred for each access when sending or receiving mail overseas. However, if you use the "Web operations when viewing the Mail Check Site", you can avoid the disconnection that occurs for each transmission, and therefore the minimum packet communications charge will not apply as much as it would for other i-mode mail usage methods.
When sending or receiving mail automatically like you would in Japan, or when using "Retrieve selected mail", each time the i-mode communication is terminated, it will be counted as one access and a minimum packet communications charge will be incurred per access.
The timing for which charges are incurred differs according to the handset model.
How to use i-mode mail overseas (in Japanese only)
(A new window will open.)i-mode disconnection timing for each model (PDF file) (in Japanese only)
Please be aware of the following
i-mode communications will be terminated after each sending or receiving of mail in order to reduce the network load to maintain a better i-mode usage environment. The timing for which minimum communications charges are incurred may differ, but actual usage charges will be based on the type of font and data that is transmitted.
Please consider your usage style and choose the method that will best suite your needs.
Charges for each connection differs depending on the country and region of stay. Please be sure to see Voice/data communications charges and service areas.
Pake-hodai and Pake-hodai double do not apply to communications made while overseas.
"Web operations when viewing the Mail Check Site" is displayed on the iMenu top page only when you are overseas.
Notes on service areas overseas
- DOCOMO's WORLD WING can be used in 3G, GSM (GPRS), and GSM networks. Available networks depend on the country or region and overseas operator, and settings may be required in order to use service.
- There may be cases where service is not available even within the service area (e.g. tunnels, underground areas, buildings, high-rises).
- Please be sure to check information on countries and regions where service is available, service interruption information, and other notices and cautions to ensure peace of mind when using WORLD WING.

Approximate limit for service suspension
A monthly limit is set to suspend the usage of WORLD WING when cumulative monthly charges exceed a certain amount. Data on charges sent from the overseas operator is used to confirm whether the monthly limit has been exceeded. However, since there are cases where it may take up to 30 days for this data to be sent, the charges actually billed may exceed the limit.
Please note that this monthly limit cannot be used for the purpose of keeping charges within the predetermined amount.
Furthermore, there are cases where we will suspend the service based on information from overseas operators regarding high usage charges to prevent excessive damages caused by unauthorized use in case of loss or theft.
An SMS message will be delivered when you reach, or approach the limit
You may be notified by Short Message Service (SMS) when your cumulative monthly charges are approaching the monthly limit or if they have exceeded the monthly limit. (Receiving these notices is free. If you are a 2in1 Service subscriber, you will receive these notices from DOCOMO only to your A number.)
If the service is suspended while overseas
To restart the service, please pay the accumulated charges. From your destination, you will be required to pay your accumulated monthly usage by credit card (single-payment only) by calling the docomo Information Center or accessing My docomo (PC version, in Japanese only).

Application can be made at docomo Shop counter.
Requests for service suspension or changing the monthly limit must be made by the subscriber.
Even when settings have been configured to notify the caller's phone number, the correct phone number may not be displayed, and a notice indicating that the Caller ID is not available or blocked may be shown.
Please note that if a service or function that restricts incoming calls is set in Japan, calls from overseas may not be received.
SMS (Short Message Service) notices from DOCOMO
When you travel overseas, DOCOMO will send you SMS (Short Message Service) messages containing notes on using Global Pake-hodai and information on how to contact DOCOMO, based on your travel destination and subscription details. Receiving these messages is free.
Automatic time and time difference correction function
If your mobile phone is equipped with the automatic time and time difference correction function, please set it to Auto.
However, correction may not be performed depending on the network of the overseas operator. In this case, please set the time and date manually.
Please see the user's guide for your handset model for further details.
Daylight saving time etc. may not be reflected properly depending on the model.
