PIN1 and PIN2 Codes / PIN Lock Disable Code (PUK)
PIN Codes (PIN1 and PIN2)
![]()
You can set two PIN codes on the DOCOMO UIM Card (FOMA Card) for your FOMA handset, the PIN1 code and PIN2 code. The PIN1 code is used to prevent others from gaining unauthorized access to your mobile phone handset. PIN1 is a four- to eight-digit number (code) to verify the handset user and must be entered every time you insert the DOCOMO UIM Card (FOMA Card) into the FOMA/Xi "crossy" handset or turn on the FOMA/Xi "crossy" handset power. After entering the correct PIN code, you can make and receive calls and use handset functions. The PIN2 code is a four- to eight-digit password that you enter when using or requesting user certificates or performing tasks such as resetting total call charges.
Using your PIN1 code
When the PIN1 code ON/OFF setting is set to ON, you are required to enter the PIN1 code when you turn on the handset power. If you enter the PIN1 code incorrectly, you will not be able to make or receive calls or use various communications functions. If the wrong PIN1 code is entered three times in a row, PIN Lock will be automatically activated.
Using your PIN2 code
When the PIN2 code ON/OFF setting is set to ON, you are required to enter the PIN2 code when making user certificate operations or connecting to FirstPass compatible websites. If the wrong PIN2 code is entered three times in a row, PIN Lock will be automatically activated.
PIN code setting at the time of purchase
[0][0][0][0]
You can change your PIN codes to different four- to eight-digit numbers of your choice from your FOMA handset.
Learning how to use your PIN codes
Please check how to change your PIN codes (PIN1 and PIN2 codes) in the user's manual (PDF).
What to do if PIN Lock is activated
Enter the PIN Lock Disable Code (PUK) to unlock the locked PIN.
When the PIN Lock is activated, it cannot be unlocked by turning off handset power.
Turning off handset power does not return the count of incorrect PIN entries back to zero. (The three wrong PIN entries in a row count starts from the last correct PIN entry.)
PIN Lock Disable Code (PUK)

The PIN Lock Disable Code (PUK) is used to unlock a PIN1 or PIN2 for which PIN Lock has been activated after the wrong PIN code is entered three times in a row.
Using your PIN Lock Disable Code (PUK)
After entering the PIN Lock Disable Code (PUK) to unlock a locked PIN, a screen appears for you to set a new PIN code. (In some handset models the PIN code is reset to the "0000" default value.)
If the wrong PIN Lock Disable Code (PUK) is entered ten times in a row, the DOCOMO UIM Card (FOMA Card) is then completely locked.
