Details of improvements
This update fixes the following issue:
- The vibrator may continue to operate on its own, and the handset may restart.
- A message stating that an alpha error occurred (
) may display and the application may fail to launch after downloading or upgrading an i-αppli in an environment with poor reception. - If the phone is left open, the screen may shake (flicker) momentarily.
- When attempting to confirm your current location (GPS positioning) with features such as GPS-compatible i-αppli, positioning may not be possible under certain conditions. A message indicating that confirmation of your current location failed will be displayed in that case.
Even after the software update is performed, a message indicating that confirmation of your current location failed may still be displayed when satellite signals cannot be correctly received. This is a normal occurrence.
In addition to solving the issue above, updates also includes other enhancements to make better use of your mobile phone.
All issues to date will be fixed by performing the latest software update.
How to Update your Software
New software is automatically downloaded and overwrites the existing software at a preset time (default time is 3 a.m.).
Updates can also be made as desired by performing the operation below and following the instructions on the screen.
In standby, press the "MENU" button then select "8. Settings & NW services" → "7. Other" → "5. Software update".

Notes
- Please make sure that the mobile phone battery is fully charged when performing software updates.
- Also note that you should never remove the battery pack while updating software, as it will cause the phone to malfunction.
- Software cannot be updated in the following cases:
When the phone’s time and date are not set
During calls
During communications, etc.
- Other functions are not available while software is being updated, though voice calls can be answered while downloading.

Packet communications charges do not apply to perform software updates.
