Handling of Personal Information in Financial Business, etc.

  • 1DOCOMO collects and manages the following personal information when, for example, providing money transfer services and insurance-related services only as required to achieve the purposes defined in (2). Only lawful and fair means are used to collect personal information.

    • 1Mobile phone number information, remittance amount, financial institution account name and account number, docomo kouza related information (occupation, purpose of transaction, balance, deposit/withdrawal status, etc.), etc.
    • 2Other information: record of applications received; content of opinions, requests, and inquiries; and other accompanying details acquired through the provision of money transfer services
    • docomo Money Transfer
    • 1Remittance information (name, date of birth, address, mobile phone number information, nationality, occupation, documents for verifying identity and their validity periods, remittance amount, remittance reason, remittance source, remittance destination country, remittance method, remittance currency, etc.)
    • 2Receipt information (receiving financial institution, payee information, etc.)
    • 3Other information: record of applications received; content of opinions, requests, and inquiries; and other accompanying details acquired through the provision of money transfer services

    • DOCOMO's insurance
    • 1Name, address, date of birth, and other information
      • Name, address, date of birth, telephone number, etc.
      • Mailing address, name, telephone number, etc. for bills and receipts
    • 2Details of usage charges etc.
      • Amounts billed, payment status, method of payment, and other details of usage charges, etc.
    • 3Details of account used for payment
      • Financial institution account number, account name, credit card number, etc.
    • 4Insurance application information
      • Type of insurance applied for, relation to the insured party, name of insured party, gender of insured party, period insured, information related to travel, information related to state of health, information related to vehicle and driver’s license, insurance plan, etc.
    • 5Details acquired through the provision of the services
      • Other information: record of applications received; content of inquiries, requests, and opinions; and other accompanying details acquired through the provision of insurance-related services
  • 2DOCOMO uses personal information for the following purposes.
    • 1Personal information handled in money transfer services is used for business related to docomo kouza, docomo Money Transfer, etc.
      Personal information handled in insurance-related services is used for business related to DOCOMO's insurance, etc.
    • 2To respond to opinions, requests, inquiries, etc. related to the relevant businesses.
    • 3To carry out campaigns and other sales promotions etc. related to the relevant businesses.
    • 4To carry out analyses and surveys related to the applicable businesses, such as analysis of sales and usage, analysis of implementation of various measures and measurement of effectiveness of those measures, analysis for planning of new services, analysis to enhance service quality and customer services.
    • 5To survey and respond to failures, malfunctions, and accidents in networks etc. related to the relevant businesses.
    • 6To prevent fraudulent usage and non-payment of charges related to the relevant businesses and to survey and respond to those when they occur.
  • 3If DOCOMO recognizes that any of the following cases apply, personal information may be used for purposes other than the original purpose of data collection, while giving the utmost consideration to the rights and interests of the user.
    • 1If laws or regulations apply;
    • 2If it is necessary for the protection of a person's life, body, or assets, and receiving consent from the user is difficult;
    • 3If it is especially necessary for the improvement of public health or promotion of the sound growth of children, and receiving consent from the user is difficult; or
    • 4If cooperation is required to conduct duties stipulated in laws and regulations of government institutions/local authorities or parties entrusted by them, and there is concern that receiving consent from the user may interfere with the conduct of those duties.
  • 4DOCOMO may check the status of payments for remittance amounts, handling fees, and premium equivalent amount for docomo kouza, docomo Money Transfer, DOCOMO's insurance, etc., and use the information to determine the provision of telecommunications services.
  • 1When DOCOMO assigns a credit obligation regarding the charges of money transfer services and insurance-related services etc. (hereinafter referred to as the "applicable credit obligation") to a third party based on the terms of the agreement, etc., DOCOMO will provide the assignee of the applicable credit obligation with personal information.

      • Name, address, date of birth, telephone number, mailing address/name/telephone number, etc. needed to send the bill and receipt of charges, etc.
      • Information on the usage charges, such as the amount billed and payment method
      • Financial institution's account number, account holder name, credit card number, etc.
    • 2Assignee of the applicable credit obligation to whom personal information is provided (as of July 1, 2012)

  • 1DOCOMO accepts inquires related to money transfer services and insurance-related services at Customer Support. When an inquiry is received, DOCOMO will act to verify that the personal information is that of the user.
  • 2If a user requests disclosure of their personal information, DOCOMO will do so without delay. Procedures for disclosure are laid out below.
    • 1Applying (Applications must be sent by post.)
      Once all items indicated on the "Application for Disclosure of Personal Information" (hereinafter referred to in this section as "Application Form") are filled out, the Application Form should be sent to the address below together with documents verifying the user's identity. The Application Form is available from the DOCOMO Information Center, or it can be downloaded (in Japanese only) from the website. "APPLICATION ENCLOSED" should be written in red ink on the envelope.

    • 2Verifying the identity of the user
      Please enclose documents designated by DOCOMO for verifying the identity of the user in the envelope.
    • 3Verification results
      Results will be sent by Simplified Registered Mail directly to the user (either the user's residence or billing address).
    • 4Handling charges for disclosure (in Japan)
      A handling charge of ¥420 per item will apply for the disclosure process. Postage for the response (In the case of standard-sized mail up to 25 g: ¥380) is not included and this will be added on top of the handling charge.
      Furthermore, please note that requested personal information may not be fully or partially disclosed by DOCOMO. If DOCOMO decides not to disclose the personal information, the user will be notified of the reason in writing.
  • 3If a user requests amendments, additions, or deletions (hereinafter referred to as "amendments, etc.") to their personal information, DOCOMO will investigate without delay. If, as a result, the relevant personal information is found to be inaccurate or it is found that the information has not been managed correctly, DOCOMO will make amendments, etc. without delay. (Requests for amendments, etc. are received at the Customer Consulting Office listed below.)
    Please note that even if there is a request for amendments, etc., according to laws and regulations, DOCOMO may not fully or partially amend the requested personal information.
  • 4DOCOMO will address requests to notify the purpose for which personal information is collected at the Customer Consulting Office listed below.
