Initiatives for Medium-term Goals

In October 2021, we announced the "New DOCOMO Group Medium-Term Strategy" which presents the challenge we plan to tackle as New DOCOMO group, as well as our medium-term strategies and management goals.

Challenge of the New DOCOMO Group

We unveiled our new brand slogan, "Changing worlds with you" to convey our ambition to realize new worlds together with each and every one of "you". With the addition of NTT Communications and NTT COMWARE to our corporate group, we will take on the challenge to create new worlds as new DOCOMO group.

New DOCOMO Group

To expand our business domains to encompass mobile, services and solutions, and to create new worlds as new DOCOMO group, we decided to integrate NTT Communications and NTT COMWARE as our subsidiaries. We will expedite the decision-making process and realize expeditious business management by unifying the management policies of the three companies, promoting functional integration and clearly defining the business responsibilities of each entity. Through these undertakings, we will promote further growth of our enterprise business and smart life business while pushing forward the structural reform of telecommunications business, so we can drive innovation as new DOCOMO group with a goal to bring about major changes to society.

Enterprise Business

New DOCOMO group will integrate the enterprise business of each entity placing NTT Communications at the core, toward the goal of strengthening our sales capabilities and enriching our fixed-mobile convergence services and solutions. We will aim to expand our enterprise business to generate over 2 trillion yen in revenues in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026 (FY2025) and become the leading company in the digital transformation (DX) of society and industries.

Smart Life Business

Through the utilization of our membership base and data assets as well as seamless coordination between services and various devices, we will create new values and lifestyles together with our partners. To this end, in addition to further reinforcement of our existing offerings, e.g., our core "finance/payment" and "video/entertainment" services, we will address the challenge of expanding into new business domains such as "electric power", "medical" and "XR." We will aim to generate over half of the new DOCOMO group revenues from Smart Life and enterprise businesses.

Telecommunications Business

We will aim to realize high-quality and economical networks through early expansion of 5G coverage and functional integration of networks owned by NTT DOCOMO and NTT Communications. We plan to offer rate plans and services catered to the diverse needs of customers and transform our sales channel together with our partners, to deliver customer experience that exceeds their expectations. Through these undertakings, we will "expand our customer base" and "optimize our sales and network costs," maintain the medium-term profit level of our telecommunications business and achieve the transition into a growth trajectory.

Global Deployment of Successful Models

By combining the capabilities of DOCOMO and Communications, and by leveraging our alliance with NTT Data and NTT Ltd., we will roll out successful models that employ the services/solutions we have developed hitherto and/or totally new technologies.

Reinforcement of Service Creation & Development Capabilities

To deliver innovative services to customers as quickly as possible and to accelerate DX of the entire group, we will thoroughly revamp our software development capabilities.

Drive Innovation with State-of-the-Art Technologies

We will lead open innovation and change the world hand-in-hand with partners. Joining forces with NTT laboratories, we will strive for early commercialization of 6G and IOWN. We will also work towards the realization of non-terrestrial networks that leverage satellites or High Altitude Platforms (HAPS).

Contribute to Creating a Sustainable Society

We will promote business management and ESG in an integrated manner, thereby contributing to creating a sustainable society. The new DOCOMO group will deliver on the "2030 Carbon Neutrality Declaration" announced in September 2021. We will also step up our endeavors to promote diversity and workstyle reform.
