  Q1 Regarding the satisfaction of employees and productivity improvement from reduced work hours, do you think you have achieved productivity gains on a broad level including your group affiliates and suppliers such as companies engaged in network contruction?

  A1 Although we do not have any quantitative data to share with you, we started from December a company-wide campaign to promote telework (work from home) . We have not yet been able to roll out flexible working hours across the entire organization, but we plan to expand its implementation on a step-by-step basis once the enviroment is ready. We have always paid attention to our network construction partners including their levels of compliance.

  As for the actions undertaken by docomo Shops, in order to create a better workplace, the shops introduced a monthly regular shop holiday from January 2017. In addition, to further promote workstyle reform, we are encouraging each outlet to close the shop at least one day during the year-end/new year holiday period. By improving the work environment, we are aiming to advance the quality of customer attendance by our shop staff so it can lead to improved customer satisfaction, and enhance our staff retention at the same time.

  Q2 What measures have you implemented to improve labor productivity?

  A2 It is difficult to measure labor productivity in a quantitative manner, but we believe there is plenty of room for further improvement. The departure of skilled employees is a huge loss for the Company, so we will continue to study and execute effective measures, including the ones that I alluded to earlier.

• Questioner No. 2

  Q1 The number of pages of your "Sustainability Report 2017" has increased compared to last year's edition. Nowadays, growing number of companies are publishing integrated reports and the average number of pages contained such reports is declining. Further, if you adopt the perspective of "CSV (=Creating Shared Value)," I believe the portion that you can make an appeal as a good corporate citizen will become smaller. Given these circumstances, it seems to me that DOCOMO's report runs against the prevailing trend of integrated reports, but what are your views?

  A1 We are looking at how to improve the content of our report, working in collaboration with IR Department. In our materiality analysis, we have identified eight sustainability focuses, and we will tackle them based on priority. As we were selected as a constituent of DJSI World Index for the first time this year, we will continue to take actions aiming to receive high evaluation on an ongoing basis. We will make improvements taking CSV into consideration as well.

  From last year, we started publishing an annual report intended as an integrated report. Although Annual report contains non-financial information, it is difficult for us to reduce the number of pages about Sustainability Report because each institution has different requests. But we are also aware of the point that you mentioned, and we will try to make improvements going forward.

• Questioner No. 3

  Q1 With respect to reduction of CO2 emission, while the adoption of IP or WEB technologies is generally considered to mitigate the environmental impact, IP itself consumes a huge amount of power. Accordingly, there remain questions pertaining to the net contribution from the conversion into IP. NTT Group has explained that it contributes to reducing CO2 emissions of the whole society through actively developing and promoting the use of ICT services and advanced technologies. How do you calculate such contributions?

  A1 The Telecommunication Technology Committee of Japan defined a standardized method, called "methodology for the assessment of the environmental impact of information and communication technology goods, network and services". We measure our contributions in accordance with this method. For more details concerning the calculation formula, please refer to the Committee's web page.

  Q2 Is that evaluation method widely used?

  Open

  A2 Several companies publish data concerning their contribution to reducing CO2 emissions, but we do not have any knowledge about the method they employ to measure their contribution. One of the future challenges that we need to tackle is to devise the methods and action plans for disseminating the methodology for CO2 reduction contribution measurement.

• Questioner No. 4

  Q1 What kinds of issues does your Board discuss? I would like to know particularly about the items debated by the Board in relation to the long-term strategy of the Company.

  A1 In compliance with the corporate governance code, last year, we established a board structure with two outside directors. At present, one of the major points of interests of the outside directors is the mid-to-long term strategic direction of DOCOMO, which will be pursued in accordance with our Medium-Term Strategy 2020 "Declaration beyond." Discussions are performed involving outside directors not only during Board meetings but also in other occasions, e.g., training sessions for Board members, and decisions are made taking their inputs into consideration. The outside directors very actively express their opinions concerning the managerial issues of the Company, including the details of our business strategies. "Declaration beyond" lays out our strategies for 2020 and further beyond. While we have not yet announced any numerical targets, we intend to discuss how to set and disclose the KPI, etc., for this medium-term strategy soliciting the opinions of the outside directors, and run a PDCA cycle going forward. The essence of governance is securing transparency in corporate management through the introduction of management supervision function by appointing outside directors and outside Audit & Supervisory Board members. The state of our corporate governance is reported by Teruyasu Murakami, outside director, in our Convocation Notice for general meeting of shareholders.

  Q2 Are there any other opportunities than the Board meetings to discuss the Company's long-term directions?

  A2 We have a training program participated by board members (including outside directors) and executive officers. During the free discussion session of the program, the participants discuss the future directions of the Company. Partly for the purpose of training the executives, we hold a session for creating the future vision of the Company narrowing down the themes of discussion.

• Questioner No. 5

  Q1 DOCOMO has been more active relative to the competition on the front of human rights due diligence and has won high evaluations for your actions. It seems that you started human rights compliance assessment using an external institute from FY2017. Can elaborate on your concrete measures in this area? Also, how much further do you plan to expand the scope of human rights due diligence?

  A1 We have been conducting training programs and awareness surveys on human rights. The issues that surfaced as a result of the surveys are properly fed back to the relevant organization and countermeasures are implemented.

  As described in our "Sustainability Report 2017", we are asking our handset suppliers and other vendors to submit a CSR Promotion check-sheet that encompasses a wide variety of items including human rights and information security, etc. If we deem it necessary to verify the status, we make site visits and mutually confirm the situation with the supplier. We will look into the possibility of expanding this exercise to cover other businesses.
