DoCoMo to Introduce Slimmest Handset in 505i Series

Products & Services

TOKYO, JAPAN, August 6, 2003 --- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and its eight regional subsidiaries announced today that they will begin marketing the P505i on August 8, 2003. At a trim 19.9 mm when folded, the new model is the slimmest in the 505i series of enhanced 2G handsets.

The P505i handset is equipped with both an inner and outer CCD camera. Each of these can capture standard still shots, take 20 continuous still shots (max. 5 shots/per second) and record up to 10-second video clips combined with voice. It is possible to extract and save just the favorite stills from either the 20 continuous shots or 10-second video clips. At least 21 video clips can be stored in internal memory and an additional 75 video clips can be stored on the miniSD memory card that comes with the handset.

Function buttons conveniently located on the side of the handset allow easy access to incoming calls, cameras and e-mail.

The one-push call-answer button situated on the clamshell hinge, for example, blinks when there's an incoming call, and when pushed, automatically opens the handset and connects the call.

The camera button activates the cameras when pressed for 1 second, enabling users to take pictures even with the handset closed. This also functions as an e-mail access button to display message content on the outer 1.1 inch 65,536 color sub-display. Long messages can be viewed by depressing the button to scroll.

Equipped with a Flash™ browser, 505i handsets can access a broad range of rich content and applications with highly fluid animation. The 505i series also features i-appli DX™, the enhanced i-appli™ service providing access to a wide range of content and applications. Downloadable Java applications enable users to highly customize layout and other features of the P505i's address book and call log, as well as i-mode mail services.

The P505i will be available through all DoCoMo sales channels. The price of the handset, including miniSD card and adaptor, will be open (unfixed). The standard accessory kit, including battery pack, AC adaptor and desktop holder, will cost 7,300 yen (pricing may vary in markets of the eight regional subsidiaries).

For details on standard functions of the 505i series, please refer to the press release issued on April 8, 2003, located on the company's website at www.docomo.ne.jp/english.
