DoCoMo hereby announces an upward revision of the i-mode usage charge, effective Sunday, June 1, 2008.
DoCoMo has up to now levied a lower monthly usage charge than other carriers to make the i-mode mobile Internet access service more accessible to customers.
The cost of providing i-mode services, however, has risen significantly with service enhancements. User-friendliness has been improved by means such as an expanded selection of iMenu and other free i-mode pages that give introductions to services and content, and information and communications charges guidance. Enhanced features such as spam e-mail protection now provide a safer and more secure communications environment. Furthermore, additional equipment has been added to handle the increase in data communications volume brought about by the spread of services for downloading video, music, and other large files.
DoCoMo has done its utmost to streamline operations and reduce costs. However, a revision of the i-mode usage charge is required to allow DoCoMo to continue to offer even better i-mode service.
This charge revision is part of DoCoMo’s continued efforts to further improve service for customers, and we ask for your understanding in this matter.
