Use Notes for WORLD WING

We also provide local support overseas so that you can use your phone abroad with confidence.

  • The WORLD WING service (hereinafter referred to as "the Service" or "this Service") is an international roaming service provided by NTT DOCOMO (hereinafter referred to as "DOCOMO") based on the PDF"FOMA Service Terms and Conditions" (PDF format:2,941KB) (in Japanese only) or the PDF"Xi Service Terms and Conditions" (PDF format:2,515KB) (in Japanese only) (hereinafter referred to as "the Terms and Conditions"). You will need to apply for this Service in order to use your mobile phone overseas.
  • Before using the Service, please be sure to read the Terms and Conditions and other usage regulations applicable to use of the Service. You should also read and consent to the Use Notes listed below.

  • The use of this Service at your destination may conflict with the laws and regulations of your destination country or region depending on the content of sites and information you view and the e-mails you send and receive. When using this Service overseas, please check the laws and regulations of your destination country or region.
  • Usage of this Service is based on Japan Standard Time (JST).
  • Cases have been reported of users being billed significant charges as a result of their mobile phones being used by third parties following the loss or theft of their mobile phone overseas. Please note that you will be responsible for any voice/data communications charges incurred after loss or theft. If your mobile phone is lost or stolen, contact DOCOMO immediately and take measures to suspend your subscription, even if your mobile phone is not compatible with overseas usage.
  • Even if you configure the carrier manually, communications using a different carrier from the configured carrier may be made automatically when outside the service area of that carrier, due to the circumstances of the corresponding carrier.
  • DOCOMO sets a monthly usage limit at which to suspend the Service when charges are confirmed to have exceeded the limit. However, it may not be possible to suspend the Service even after usage has exceeded the limit, due to factors such as a delay in receiving billing data from the carrier at your travel destination (the overseas country or region of stay where the Service is available; the same applies hereinafter).
  • For the latest information, please refer to the website for this Service (https://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/service/world/).

Furthermore, it may not be possible to send these notices depending on your subscription status. You may be able to reply to these notices, but attempting to reply may incur communications charges, whether or not the message was successfully delivered.

3. Regions where the Service is available

  • Be sure to check "Service areas and voice/data communications charges for overseas use" (in Japanese only) for countries and regions where this Service is available, for notes on using this Service in the relevant countries and regions, and for the latest notices concerning areas and international services (service interruptions, etc.).

  • In some cases this Service may not be available even within the service area of the carrier at your travel destination, when DOCOMO cannot confirm that you are within the service area.
  • In some countries and regions, packet communications such as i-mode and sp-mode, SMS, digital communications services such as Videophone, and VoLTE international roaming service may not be available, even if voice roaming services are. Moreover, digital communications services such as Videophone are available only in the 3G service area of countries in which such services are available.

However, you may not be able to select a carrier yourself depending on the model of mobile phone you are using (please refer to the user manual).
  • Even in regions where only the GSM service is officially offered as the area in which this Service can be used, this Service may be available in the W-CDMA or LTE service area prior to commencement of the official service, depending on the carrier at your travel destination. The voice/data communications charges set by that carrier will also apply in such cases. Any use on an Applicable Ship in territorial waters will be of the services of a communications carrier in the corresponding country or region. Please inquire with the shipping company for details.
  • If you move outside a VoLTE international roaming service area while making a VoLTE call overseas, your call will be disconnected.

4. Voice/data communications charges for the Service

  • Voice/data communications charges for use of the Service vary according to the country and region where you use the Service, the local carrier, and the called party. Note that voice/data communications charges for this Service, including for the use of packet communications such as i-mode and sp-mode, SMS, digital communications such as Videophone, and VoLTE international roaming service, differ from voice/data communications charges for FOMA and Xi services within Japan. Be sure to check "Service areas and voice/data communications charges for overseas use" (in Japanese only).
  • When you receive a call with this Service, incoming call charges will be incurred.
  • Voice/data communications charges for this Service are calculated and charged according to the duration of communications and the volume of communications measured with equipment of the carrier at your travel destination and DOCOMO.
  • Depending on the carrier at your travel destination and under certain communications conditions, voice/data communications charges may be incurred even if you cannot connect to the other party or if the transmission is not completed.
  • Even if you make a call without the international prefix number or the country code, such numbers may be automatically added and the call may be connected due to the communications conditions, etc. of the carrier at your travel destination. Voice communications charges will be incurred in such cases.
  • Some carriers at your travel destination may also count the ringback time when making or receiving calls as communications time, due to communications conditions or other factors, and bill on this basis.
  • Depending on the carrier at your travel destination, charges may apply even when you hang up before the other party answers your call, due to communications conditions or other factors.
  • Depending on the carrier at your travel destination, you may be connected to a local call center, voice guidance, etc. when making a dialing mistake, due to communications conditions or other factors. Voice communications charges may be incurred in such cases.
  • Voice/data communications charges for this Service may be incurred even when you make toll-free calls, collect calls, credit card calls, or prepaid card calls at your travel destination.
  • Calls cannot be made to toll-free numbers in Japan.
  • Depending on the carrier at your travel destination, communications within the country of stay may be counted as voice/data communications charges to other countries, due to factors such as communications conditions. (Similarly, communications to other countries may be counted as voice/data communications charges within the country of stay).
  • In some countries and regions, this Service may be available through a carrier other than a carrier of that country or region (if the network setting on your mobile phone is configured to Auto, or when using the phone on a boat, ship, etc.). In this case, voice/data communications charges for this Service will apply as set for the relevant carrier. To use a specific carrier, you will need to change the network settings on your mobile phone.
  • In some coastal areas of Japan or while at sea, etc., this Service may be available through the network of a carrier other than DOCOMO. In this case, for customers whose mobile phone's network setting is configured to Auto, voice/data communications will be recognized as being conducted through the carrier selected automatically, and voice/data communications charges for this Service set for the relevant carrier will apply. If you wish to access only the DOCOMO network in a coastal area of Japan or while at sea, etc., you will need to change the network settings to "DOCOMO" on your mobile phone. Otherwise, please cancel subscription of this Service.
  • Communications allowances included in FOMA service billing plans, etc. apply to voice/data communications charges for the Service. However, communications allowances included in Xi data communications and FOMA data communications dedicated plans, as well as in discount services, generally do not apply. Communications allowances will also not apply when "packet pack kaigai option", "Kaigai Pake-hodai", "Kaigai 1day Pake" and "WORLD WING Wi-Fi" are applicable.
  • Free calls and i-mode mail within the family discount group, etc. will not apply to overseas usage. (When calling a user of this service from within Japan, the billing system for domestic calls within Japan will apply and the call will be free of charge. Furthermore, when exchanging i-mode mail with a user of this service while you are in Japan, the domestic billing system for Japan will apply and you will not be charged for communications).
  • Charges for this Service are included in your monthly FOMA service or Xi service bill. However, charges may be included in subsequent monthly FOMA service or Xi service bills, as it may take up to 30 days for charge data to be sent from the carrier you used. In this case, charges are covered by communications allowances of the month when the charges are actually billed. Moreover, charges incurred in the same billing period may not be billed in the same month.
  • If you wish to be provided with an itemized statement of voice/data communications charges incurred using this Service, separate application for the Itemized Billing Service is required.
  • In some cases, the numbers listed on your itemized billing statement of voice/data communications charges for the Service may differ from the numbers you actually dialed. For example, certain digits in the phone number may be different (when, for example, you used remote operations such as Voice Mail Service) or a completely different number may be listed (if, for example, you made a dialing mistake and were connected to the local call center, voice guidance, etc.).
  • Depending on the carrier, the regions, countries, name of the carrier of use listed on your itemized billing statement may differ from the numbers you actually used.
  • Voice communications charges for video calls while using VoLTE international roaming service are the same as the WORLD WING service-communications charges. Video calls incur a voice communications charge and packet communications charge (the party being called also incurs a packet communications charge).
  • There may be cases where the image of the other person displayed on your mobile phone is distorted or the call cannot be connected depending on the video calls or Videophone compatible mobile phone model of the other party and other compatible equipment. However, you will still be required to pay voice/data communications charges set by the carrier at your travel destination.

Using packet communications

  • Packet communications at your travel destination may be slow, or connection may be difficult due to network congestion.
  • Customers whose usage is particularly excessive may experience slower communications, depending on local carrier conditions.
  • If there is a significantly large volume of communications during a certain period of time, or connection for communications continues for a long time, communications may be interrupted or subsequent connection may not be possible for a certain period of time, depending on local carrier conditions.
  • The data rates are the maximum speed for sending/receiving data based on technical standards, and do not indicate the actual speed achieved. The service is provided on a Best Effort basis, and the actual data rates will vary according to the network environment in the country or region of use.
  • The packet communications volume includes the use of the free-of-communications-charges sites designated by DOCOMO.
  • Depending on the model being used and the overseas carrier, the name of the carrier that is displayed on your model's screen may be different from the actual carrier name, or be displayed as a 5 or 6-digit carrier code, even if the carrier is the same.
  • If you have manually configured the carrier settings at your travel destination, communications will not be possible outside the service area of that carrier. Please be sure to change the carrier settings to Auto after returning to Japan.
  • For packet communications that continue for more than one hour, charges will be calculated based on the volume of communications made in one-hour increments, starting from the time the connection is initiated and continuing until the same connection is terminated.
  • When packet communications beginning before 00:00:00 continue past 23:59:59 into the next day, those communications will be counted and calculated as part of the packet communications amount for the day after 00:00:00.
  • 1 packet = 128 bytes, 1 KB = 1,024 bytes, 1 MB = 1,024 KB.

  • To use WORLD WING Wi-Fi, you will need to obtain an ID and password in advance. Once you have obtained an ID and password, it shall be deemed that the contract/subscription for WORLD WING Wi-Fi has been established between you and DOCOMO.
  • Please take responsibility for managing the ID and password yourself, and take sufficient precautions such as changing your password regularly so that it does not become known to others. DOCOMO bears no responsibility or liability whatsoever for the handling of your ID and password.
  • It is prohibited to disclose, reveal, lend, transfer, sell, or pawn your ID and password to a third party, or otherwise allow a third party to use them.
  • If a problem occurs as a result of violating the above, you will be responsible for resolving the problem and DOCOMO may suspend the use of the ID and password. In such an event, DOCOMO may make claims against you for any damage that DOCOMO suffers as a result.
  • To use WORLD WING Wi-Fi, you will need a smartphone, PC, or other device with a Wi-Fi function that can be used at your travel destination.
  • To use WORLD WING Wi-Fi, you will need to connect to a partner carrier (access points). Please use one of the following methods:
    • Confirm the SSID of a partner carrier for WORLD WING Wi-Fi and configure the settings yourself
    • Use automatic connection via SIM authentication

If you use automatic connection for WORLD WING Wi-Fi by means of SIM authentication, the communications charges for WORLD WING Wi-Fi will commence at the same time as automatic connection. Note that as packet communications charges will be incurred for confirming the configuration method and downloading the app, DOCOMO recommends that you carry out the procedures in Japan.

  • The procedure to configure the settings of a device with a Wi-Fi function differs depending on the device.
  • Regarding the communications charges for WORLD WING Wi-Fi, Kaigai Pake-hodai will apply provided that you are connected to a partner carrier (access points).
  • When packet pack kaigai option or Kaigai 1day Pake is applied and used after WORLD WING Wi-Fi activation within the same day (based on Japan time), both the flat-rate charge of packet pack kaigai option/Kaigai 1day Pake and packet communications charges of WORLD WING Wi-Fi will be incurred.
  • Please note that this Service may not be available even within a provided service area, there may be differences in communications quality, and communications may be interrupted depending on the partner carrier (access points).
  • If you select file sharing, etc. via WORLD WING Wi-Fi, the data may be viewed by other customers. DOCOMO bears no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any damage incurred by you as a result of failing to take measures such as disabling file sharing, etc.
  • Please note that DOCOMO may check the login and other information for using WORLD WING Wi-Fi.
  • DOCOMO is not privy to and bears no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any conditions of service provision that have been determined independently by a partner carrier at the overseas destination.

Data communications using packet flat-rate services

  • Packet flat-rate services compatible carriers and applicable countries/regions are subject to change without notice.
  • You may not be able to use the network of packet flat-rate services compatible carriers depending on the communications conditions at your travel destination.
  • If you are located near a border (including during roaming on board an aircraft or ship), a connection may be established to a carrier in the bordering country or region. If the connected carrier is not packet flat-rate services compatible, the packet communications used will not be eligible for packet flat-rate services, and so the charges could be high.

Overseas packet suspension service

  • A separate application is required to use the overseas packet suspension service.
  • The upper limit will be determined by DOCOMO.
  • DOCOMO will suspend use of packet communications by the end of the applicable month when it is confirmed that the Cumulative Monthly Charges for packet communications have exceeded the upper limit. Please contact the docomo Information Center or docomo world counter if you wish to resume use of packet communications. After resuming use, DOCOMO will suspend use of packet communications again if it is confirmed that the Cumulative Monthly Charges for packet communications have again exceeded the upper limit.
  • The Cumulative Monthly Charges for packet communications do not include the communications charges and flat-rate charges for packet pack kaigai option, Kaigai Pake-hodai and Kaigai 1day Pake.
  • Voice calls, Videophone and SMS are not eligible for overseas packet suspension service.
  • You may be notified by SMS if DOCOMO confirms that the Cumulative Monthly Charges for packet communications are approaching the limit or if they have exceeded the limit (receiving these messages is free of charge. If you are a 2in1 subscriber, you will receive these notices only on your A number). Such notices may not be received or displayed properly depending on factors such as the functions available on your mobile phone model and/or the communications conditions of the carrier at your travel destination. You will not be able to reply to these messages.
  • In some cases, usage may not be suspended, even if the upper limit is exceeded, due to factors such as system maintenance or problems with DOCOMO's telecommunications equipment.
  • If you used packet communications in the intervening period until the usage of packet communications is suspended, you will be required to pay all charges including those that exceed the limit.
  • Use of packet communications may be suspended before the upper limit of monthly cumulative charges is reached, such as when you have used packet communications free-of-charge sites designated by DOCOMO.
  • To use packet communications after resume use of packet communications, you will need to reboot your mobile phone. Furthermore, please note that it may take some time to restart packet communications.

Packet communications which will not eligible for flat-rate

  • To use ISP Content Access at your travel destination, packet communications charges are differ depending on the local carrier. These charges will be divided into 2 categories, Group A and Group B. Packet communications charges for Group A are ¥50 for up to 50 packets plus ¥0.2 per packet thereafter, and for Group B are ¥100 for up to 100 packets plus ¥0.2 per packet thereafter.
  • Packet communications charges are ¥0.2 per packet for data communications performed overseas using such as smartphones and data communications products other than i-mode.
  • When the volume of packet communications of data communications other than i-mode performed using specified carriers (hereinafter referred to as "Data Communications Using Specified Carriers") exceeds 10,000 packets (¥2,000) in one day, a charge of ¥2,000 will cover the usage from 10,000 to 120,000 packets, and ¥0.2/packet will be incurred for usage in excess of 120,000 packets. Charges of Data Communications Using Specified Carriers are calculated on a day-to-day basis, based on the sum of applicable packet communications made from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59 Japan time (calculations will not be based on the local time of your travel destination). To perform Data Communications Using Specified Carriers, change the communications carrier to the Specified Carrier manually (For details on carrier settings, please refer to the instruction manual of your overseas compatible mobile phone).
  • To use ISP Content Access at your travel destination, you will need to subscribe to a service provided by an ISP (provider) in advance in Japan. When using ISP Content Access through this Service, packet communications charges will be incurred for each access. For other detailed precautions when using ISP Content Access at your travel destination, please see "3. Data communications using mopera U, ISP Content Access, etc." in "6. Notes on using i-mode, sp-mode, mopera U, and other packet communications" below.

5. Excess usage notice

  • At the time of FOMA service or Xi service subscription, DOCOMO will set a monthly limit (hereinafter referred to as the "Monthly Limit") at which to suspend usage of this Service when the cumulative monthly charges (hereinafter referred to as "Cumulative Monthly Charges") exceed a certain amount. The Monthly Limit charges will be determined by DOCOMO. If you would like to change your Monthly Limit, please contact a docomo Shop or the docomo Information Center. Please note that it may not be possible to change the Monthly Limit in some cases.
  • The Cumulative Monthly Charges subject to the Monthly Limit include voice communications charges, digital communications charges, packet communications charges, and SMS communications charges (if you are a 2in1 subscriber, the total amount for your A number and B number will be included) while you are using the international roaming service. The Cumulative Monthly Charges include the total of daily usage charges when using Kaigai Pake-hodai or Data Communications Using Specified Carriers, and the flat-rate for packet pack kaigai option and Kaigai 1day Pake.
  • DOCOMO uses billing data sent from carriers subject to this Service to determine if the Cumulative Monthly Charges exceed the Monthly Limit. However, the charges actually billed may exceed the Monthly Limit due to the delay (up to 30 days) in the sending of this data, or due to system maintenance or problems with DOCOMO's telecommunications equipment. Therefore, you should not rely on the Monthly Limit for the purpose of using this Service only within a certain range of charges (suspending this Service at the Monthly Limit you have set).
  • DOCOMO will suspend this Service by the end of the applicable month when it is confirmed that the Cumulative Monthly Charges have exceeded the Monthly Limit. However, this Service may be restarted after the end of the month. You may be notified by SMS if DOCOMO confirms that the Cumulative Monthly Charges are approaching the Monthly Limit or if they have exceeded the Monthly Limit (receiving these notices is free of charge. If you are a 2in1 subscriber, you will receive these notices only on your A number). Such notices will be received regardless of whether or not you have configured your phone to reject SMS messages. However, such notices may not be received or displayed properly depending on factors such as the functions available on the model of your mobile phone and/or communications conditions of the carrier at your travel destination. You may be able to reply to these notices, depending on the model of your mobile phone, but attempting to reply may incur communications charges, whether or not the message was successfully delivered.
  • DOCOMO confirms whether or not the Cumulative Monthly Charges have exceeded the Monthly Limit based on the amount before communications allowances have been applied.
  • Even when the Cumulative Monthly Charges exceed the Monthly Limit, you will be required to pay all the Cumulative Monthly Charges including those that exceed the Monthly Limit.
  • If this Service has been suspended, it will be restarted after DOCOMO has confirmed that all Cumulative Monthly Charges have been paid (To use packet communications after this Service has restarted, you will need to reboot your mobile phone. Furthermore, please note that it may take some time to restart this Service after you have paid the amount due).
  • Even if your Cumulative Monthly Charges have not yet exceeded the Monthly Limit, you may still pay the Cumulative Monthly Charges. In this case, the Cumulative Monthly Charges you have paid will be exempt from the Monthly Limit in the applicable month.
  • When Cumulative Monthly Charges are paid during the month in which they were incurred, they will not be covered by communications allowances. Communications allowances will be applied to total charges, including Cumulative Monthly Charges already paid, in each month's bill. If the charges already paid exceed the billed amount after communications allowances have been applied, the applicable charges will be indicated as a negative amount as "Amount unable to be refunded this month" [Amount it was not possible to refund this month], and will be subtracted from subsequent bills.
  • You can pay the Cumulative Monthly Charges from your travel destination with a credit card (single payment only) by calling docomo Information Center or from the DOCOMO website (My docomo).
  • You can pay the Cumulative Monthly Charges in Japan at a docomo Shop, docomo world counter, docomo Information Center or via the DOCOMO website (My docomo).
  • If DOCOMO receives information regarding excessive charges separate from the charge data received from the carrier you used, and judges that charges for this Service for one day may have exceeded the Monthly Limit, usage of this Service will be suspended. In this case, DOCOMO will inform you of the suspension in writing.
  • If DOCOMO suspends this Service based on information regarding excessive charges, you may receive SMS notices from DOCOMO advising you that your service is to be suspended (receiving these messages is free of charge. If you are a 2in1 subscriber, you will receive these notices only on your A number). If you have configured your phone to reject SMS messages, you will be unable to receive these messages. In addition, such notices may not be received or displayed properly depending on factors such as the functions available on the model of your mobile phone and/or the communications conditions of the carrier at your travel destination. You cannot reply to these messages. (Attempting to reply may incur communications charges upon transmission, regardless of whether the message was delivered.
  • If this Service was suspended based on information regarding excessive charges, this Service will only be restarted upon your request once DOCOMO has confirmed that you were responsible for the high charges.

6. Using i-mode, sp-mode, mopera U, and other packet communications

  • For details of carriers who offer packet communications services, please refer to "Service areas and voice/data communications charges for overseas use" (in Japanese only).
  • Even within the service area of a carrier which offers packet communications services, packet communications may be unavailable depending on factors such as communications conditions.
  • The billing structure for packet communications with this Service differs from that of the FOMA service, Xi service and packet communications service. For further information on the communications charges, please refer to "Service areas and voice/data communications charges for overseas use" (in Japanese only).
  • When performing packet communications with this Service, packet communications charges will be incurred for all communications according to the communications volume, even for incomplete connections due to authentication errors, etc.
  • You may not be able to use packet flat-rate services in some countries and/or regions. The packet communications charge in these countries/regions could be high.
  • The use of certain sites may be restricted, due to the circumstances of the content provider. For example, you may not be able to view or acquire all or part of the information. In addition, site content viewed overseas may differ from when it is viewed in Japan.

Use various services overseas

  • Whether or not you can use DOCOMO services overseas depends on each service. You may also need to change the settings to enable use overseas.
  • In some cases, it may be possible to use a service that is not meant to be available overseas. In this case, voice/data communications charges will apply when using the Service.
  • With regard to services that are still in the initial free period, overseas use may cause the free period to be terminated.
  • Even when configuring the settings to disable overseas use, packet communications charges may be incurred due to automatic software updates or similar.
  • When using various services overseas, usage may be restricted in some cases, or the content and conditions of use may differ from those when used within Japan.
  • The completeness, usability and accuracy of the information provided by DOCOMO is not guaranteed, and DOCOMO bears no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any damage incurred by customers through the use of such information, except where due to the fault of DOCOMO.

1. i-mode

  • To view i-mode sites with this Service, it is necessary to confirm the Use Notes on the i-mode overseas usage setting screen and configure the overseas usage setting to "Use" [Use].
  • The default setting is "Do not use" [Do not use].
  • Even if you have configured your i-mode overseas usage setting not to use i-mode overseas, sending/receiving, and making inquiries for i-mode mail; accessing the Retrieve Selected Mail site and iMenu; automatic activation of i-appli; and viewing the 2in1 webmail site is still possible, and packet communications will occur. In this case, you will be required to pay packet communications charges according to the actual packet communications made.
  • The i-mode service provided by carriers at your destination is not available for use with this Service.
  • When viewing the iMenu with this Service, an international roaming-compatible iMenu (hereinafter referred to as "Overseas iMenu") will be displayed. The content of the Overseas iMenu may differ depending on the country/region of your stay.

i-mode communications charges

  • If you use i-mode with this Service, packet communications charges may be incurred for those charges that are free in Japan, regardless of stipulations in the i-mode usage regulations.
  • If you use i-mode with this Service, a minimum packet communications charge for each connection (¥50 or ¥100) and packet communications charges for the corresponding volume of communications will apply. We recommend that you disconnect communications as seldom as possible when you use i-mode with this Service. The following are examples of communications that are counted as one connection:
    • From the moment i-mode communications start until the communications automatically end following a predetermined period after communications are no longer available
    • When the device in use receives a signal from DOCOMO's telecommunications equipment to disconnect communications while i-mode communications are being performed
    • From the moment i-mode communications start until the End key is pressed
    • From the moment i-mode communications start until you leave the service area or the communications end due to poor reception
    • From the moment i-mode communications start until you receive a voice call during i-mode communications (when using GPRS)
    • From the moment i-mode communications start until you receive a Videophone call during i-mode communications
    • When i-mode mail is sent or received

Viewing sites on i-mode

  • Even if the use of sites or information is restricted, you may be able to apply to cancel contracts with content providers for the use of sites or information by using your mobile phone while overseas, depending on the site.
  • Even if the use of sites or information available in Japan is restricted, you will be required to pay information charges based on the i-mode information service subscription applicable to the period during the usage restriction.
  • If you use i-mode with this Service, depending on the site you view, the content provider may be notified that you are viewing the site in a country where the international roaming service is available, and may receive information that specifies your country of stay in order to determine that you are accessing the site from overseas. However, this does not mean that the content provider or other third parties will be able to identify your location in detail while you use this Service.

Use i-mode mail

  • When sending and receiving i-mode mail while overseas, different mail size limits and conditions apply depending on your mobile phone model and the communications method subscribed to. For details, refer to the instruction manual, etc.
  • If your mobile phone is set to automatically receive i-mode mail, i-mode mail will be received automatically. Each mail received is counted as one connection, and a minimum packet communications charge for each connection (¥50 or ¥100) and packet communications charges for the corresponding volume of communications will apply.
  • By configuring the Receive option setting in advance, instead of receiving i-mode mail automatically, you can use the Retrieve Selected Mail site to select and download only the necessary mail after checking the titles, or to just check the titles and the content of the mail without downloading it (Even when you use the Retrieve Selected Mail site, each access will be counted as one connection and a minimum packet communications charge (¥50 or ¥100) and packet communications charges for the corresponding volume of communications will be incurred). A maximum of 1,000 messages in the case of FOMA service can be stored at the Retrieve Selected Mail site for up to 720 hours. Attachments cannot be viewed on the Retrieve Selected Mail site, but can be viewed after the mail is downloaded to the mobile phone.
  • If you select "Check new messages", all mail will be downloaded even if the Receive option setting is configured.
  • Message R is automatically received at your travel destination and packet communications charges apply regardless of your Receive option setting.
  • If you do not wish to receive Message R at your travel destination, you can make changes individually to temporarily suspend Message R on the delivery settings screen of the respective i-mode content provider or configure the Reject All Messages setting for Message R via the i-mode site or My docomo to stop the receiving of all Message R while you are traveling (The Reject All Messages setting is a function available only while you are using this Service, so your phone will receive Message R while in Japan irrespective of your settings). It is free to configure the Reject All Messages setting for Message R from within Japan, but packet communications charges apply to configure the setting at your travel destination.
  • If you do not wish to receive MyInfoMail at your travel destination, you can configure the Reject All Messages setting for Message R via the i-mode site or My docomo to also stop receiving MyInfoMail.
  • Once you have changed the Reject All Messages setting, the setting will stay the same at your next travel destination.
  • You cannot receive notices from "docomo News [Mail]" [docomo News (Message R)] at your travel destination regardless of the Reject All Messages for Message R setting while you are using this Service.
  • Packet communications charges apply to access sites from MyInfoMail at your travel destination.
  • Message F is not available overseas.

2. sp-mode

  • Separate packet communications charges apply when using applications on a smartphone or due to functions that automatically perform communications in the background.
  • Although you may use the same access point to perform communications overseas, your packet communications charges may be high.
  • Tethering cannot be used on some models while overseas.
  • If you use sp-mode with this Service, packet communications charges may be incurred for those charges that are free in Japan, regardless of stipulations in the sp-mode usage regulations.
  • Additional packet communications charges will apply to receive MyInfoMail through sp-mode.
  • If you are subscribed to both the i-mode and sp-mode services with one line, MyInfoMail will be delivered by Message R for i-mode.
  • MyInfoMail for sp-mode will all be delivered at your overseas destination, and delivery will be made according to the desired delivery time you set in advance, based on Japan time.
  • If the automatic receiving of mail overseas is enabled in the settings of the docomo mail application, MyInfoMail will also be received automatically.

3. Data communications using mopera U, ISP Content Access, etc.

mopera U

  • To use mopera U with this Service while overseas, you may need to cancel your limited connection service subscription and configure settings, depending on your phone model and plan. For further information, please refer to New windowmopera U (in Japanese only).

ISP Content Access

  • To use ISP Content Access with this Service, you will need to subscribe to a service provided by an ISP (provider) in advance in Japan.
  • To use ISP Content Access with this Service, you may need to configure settings for overseas use that you are informed of by the ISP before using the website viewing function.
  • Please contact the ISP regarding the details of services, including the sending and receiving of mail using ISP Content Access, as well as charges and other conditions.
  • The billing structure for use of i-mode with this Service will apply to packet communications charges when using ISP Content Access. A minimum packet communications charge for each connection (¥50 or ¥100) and packet communications charges for the corresponding volume of communications will apply. For further information on the communications charges, please refer to "Service areas and voice/data communications charges for overseas use" (in Japanese only).
  • If you use ISP Content Access with this Service, packet communications charges will be incurred for all packet communications, including those that are free in Japan, regardless of the stipulations in the usage regulations of the relevant ISP.
  • If you use ISP Content Access with this Service and the roaming announcement function is configured, the ISP and content provider may be notified that you are viewing the site in a country where the international roaming service is available, and may receive information that specifies your country of stay in order to determine that you are accessing the site from overseas. However, this does not mean that the ISP, content provider or other third parties will be able to identify your location in detail while you use this Service.

7. Notes on using SMS (Short Message Service)/Missed call notification SMS for roaming

  • When using SMS at your travel destination, the service in Japanese may not be available with some mobile phones. In addition, some SMS messages you send or receive may not be properly displayed, or you may not be able to send or receive some SMS messages depending on factors such as the communications conditions of the carrier at your travel destination.
  • Communications charges are incurred when you send SMS messages (communications charges do not apply for receiving SMS messages). However, communications charges may be incurred even if an SMS message could not be delivered due to an error in the address, etc. For further information on the communications charges, please be sure to check "Service areas and voice/data communications charges for overseas use" (in Japanese only).
  • Welcome messages and other messages may be sent from carriers, but no charges will apply for receiving such messages.
  • Depending on the carrier at your travel destination, you may not be able to receive some International SMS messages (namely those to or from users of carriers including the carrier at your travel destination).
  • The SMS Delivery Notification function may also be available with this Service, depending on overseas communications conditions and other factors. Charges will not apply to use the SMS Delivery Notification function.
  • Missed call notification SMS for roaming (a function that notifies you via SMS of the date and time of the call and the phone number of the caller if you missed a call or were unable to answer a call due to being outside the service area while at your travel destination) is enabled by default.
  • Missed call notification SMS for roaming will be received while overseas even when your phone is turned off or when the Out of Range Notification Call Service is activated.
  • When Missed call notification SMS for roaming messages remain accumulated at the SMS center due to your phone being switched off or outside the service area, they will be delivered as a Missed call notification SMS message for roaming after your return to Japan.

8. Notes on using network services

Network services

  • If you wish to configure the settings of network services from your travel destination, please configure the announcement setting via remote operation. Note that if these settings have been made while roaming overseas, communications charges may be incurred separately for these settings (For further information such as settings, etc., please refer to the announcement setting via remote operation).
  • Voice Mail Service and Call Forwarding Service may not be available when you move outside the service area at your travel destination with your mobile phone turned on. To use Voice Mail and Call Forwarding services when you are outside the service area at your travel destination, you will need to turn the mobile phone's power off in advance while still in the service area.
  • When you receive a voice call while using this Service, you will not be able to manually switch to Voice Mail Service or Call Forwarding Service.
  • Voice Mail Service via videophone is not available overseas, so you will need to configure the setting to deactivate the Voice Mail Service function. Similarly, you will not be able to leave a Voice Mail message by Videophone for users of this Service who are roaming overseas.
  • Public Mode and Omakase Lock are not available overseas.
  • Depending on the network of the carrier at your travel destination, it may not be possible to use services restricting incoming calls, such as Call Waiting Service, Caller ID Notification Service, and Nuisance Call Blocking Service, or the incoming call restriction function (incoming call restriction for roaming) while using this Service.
  • Even if your mobile phone number is set as a forwarding number from a landline phone, etc., you may not be able to receive the forwarded calls while you use this Service.
  • At your travel destination, you may receive calls with no Caller ID, even though you have a service set to restrict incoming calls, such as Caller ID Notification Service or Nuisance Call Blocking Service.
  • Quick Number Service is not available overseas.
  • The Multiaccess function is not available when using a GSM network, or when using Videophone or 64K data communications at your travel destination.
  • Ringback tones and foreign-language announcements provided by the carrier at your travel destination may be played depending on the circumstances of the carrier.
  • Even if you activate your Caller ID Notification while using this Service, the called party may receive a notice that the Caller ID is not available or is blocked, or a completely different phone number may be displayed on the called party's mobile phone due to the circumstances of the carrier. If the called party is using the incoming call restriction function, the call may not be connected, but communications charges may still be incurred even in such a case.
  • When you use Multi number at your travel destination and make a call, you will only be able to call from the basic subscription number, regardless of the settings you have configured beforehand. In addition, when receiving a call, it may be unclear which of your numbers the call is to. The charges for incoming calls to additional numbers will be billed to the user together with the voice/data communications charges for the basic subscription number.
  • You cannot activate or deactivate the Voice Mail Service or Call Forwarding Service for additional numbers under the Multi number subscription when you are at your travel destination.
  • Connections to IP phones, etc. may not be available depending on the circumstances of the carrier at your travel destination.
  • If you have set a PIN code for the DOCOMO UIM Card that you use in Japan, you will also need to input the PIN code when using this Service at your travel destination.
  • Check your network PIN before going overseas. If you have forgotten your network PIN, please visit your nearest docomo Shop or docomo world counter with your Certificate of Alien Registration, Japanese driver's license, or other ID documents.

2in1

  • You may not be able to perform operations to start, suspend, or change modes for 2in1 at your travel destination.
  • Regardless of any settings made in advance, only the A number can be used to make calls at your travel destination. If you try to make a call with your B number, an error message indicating that you cannot make a call will be displayed on the screen of your handset.
  • When you receive a call at your travel destination, it may not be possible to determine which number the call has been made to, depending on the carrier. Therefore, calls made to the B number may be displayed as calls to the A number. In this case, the incoming call settings (displays, ringtones, etc.) of the A number will apply.
  • When you use 2in1 at your travel destination, incoming call charges for the B number under 2in1 will be billed together with the voice/data communications charges for the A number.
  • The Cumulative Monthly Charge subject to the Monthly Limit on communications for this Service will be calculated by the total amount of your 2in1 A number and B number overseas usage.
  • When using the B number under 2in1 at your travel destination, you may not be able to activate or deactivate Voice Mail Service or Call Forwarding Service.
  • While using this Service, you will be able to receive SMS messages sent to your B number under 2in1 even if your mobile phone is not compatible with 2in1. In this case, the incoming SMS message will be displayed as an SMS message sent to your A number, but with the sender's phone number prefixed by an asterisk ("*").

9. Changes to the Use Notes

DOCOMO reserves the right to make changes to the above Use Notes as necessary. When a change is made, details of the change will be notified through means such as the DOCOMO website.
