Software Update for N902iL


NTT DoCoMo announced today a minor update to software for N902iL. We encourage our users to make this software update to improve mobile phone performance as shown below.

This update fixes the following issue:

  • The handset may freeze, displaying "Wait a minute" on the LCD screen, with the keys becoming inoperable.
  • Battery charge may not last as long as usual in certain environments.
 Software update has been resumed since May 15, 2008. If you had performed the software update between April 22 and 28, please perform this software update again.

Customers who receive visits from a Corporate Marketing representative, please inquire with the Corporate Marketing representative.

1. Notes


  It takes approximately 8 to 32 minutes to download and update software. Please note that the mobile phone will not be available for use during this time. The Timer Update function will enable you to perform software updates while you are asleep or other times that are convenient for you, so we recommend that you take advantage of this function.
Also note that you should never remove the battery pack while updating software, as it will cause the phone to malfunction.
  Updates of the software can be done while keeping Phonebook entries, camera images, downloaded data and other data saved on the phone intact. However, please note that in some cases data cannot be protected depending on the condition of your mobile phone (malfunction, damage, water exposure, etc.). It is recommended that you back up necessary data.

2. How to Update your Software


Conduct the operation below and follow the instructions on the screen.
In standby, press the "Menu" button then select "Settings" → "Other settings" → "Software update".
Please refer to the N902iL Quick Guide for Updating Software below or P.514 to 518 of your User’s Manual for details.
  Packet communications charges do not apply to perform software updates.
  If you wish for DoCoMo staff to perform the software update, please bring your phone to a repair counter designated by DoCoMo.

3. Update Period


April 22, 2008 thru May 31, 2009
  The update period may be extended without notice.
  If you had performed the software update between April 22 and 28, please perform this software update again.
